This remarkable cityscape offers a unique glimpse into 18th-century Amsterdam. The copper engraving depicts the stately Diaconie Weeshuis (the current H'ART Museum) on the corner of the Amstel and the Zwanenburgwal.
This print is an authentic piece of history, originally published around 1726 in the famous city guide Wegwyzer door Amsterdam by the renowned Amsterdam publisher Nicolaas ten Hoorn.
The 'Wegwyzer' was the leading authority for visitors to the city at that time and proudly showcased the architectural highlights of the canal belt. The engraving is highly detailed; from the activity of barges on the water to the pedestrians on the quay.
The work is printed on authentic handmade paper and is museum-quality presented in a stylish, dark wooden frame with a double gold-colored border and a high-quality mat. A beautiful object for the collector of Amsterdam views or antique cartography.
